Hapeville Library Now Closed for Renovation

Hapeville Library is Now Closed to Begin New Construction

The Hapeville Library, located at 525 King Arnold Street, Hapeville 30354, is now closed in order to prepare for construction, as part of the ongoing Library Renovation Project. Patrons are reminded to transfer hold items, locate a nearby library to return library materials and search for library programs at  http://afpls.org/locations or use the Library System’s library locator tool to search for an alternate library.

The Hapeville Library closed to the public on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 6 p.m.

Albion has contracted with Fulton County to provide design, engineering and construction management services for the Hapeville Library project and Heery/Russell is the program management team.

“The closing of our Hapeville Library is part of a two year effort to redesign and modernize 23 of the County’s 34 libraries. The Hapeville Library will be a new building project, the only new construction taking place in Phase II of the Capital Improvement Program.  The new building will still feature items like upgraded technology, new shelving, study rooms, ADA accessible restrooms, but will also come with a brand new and more efficient building envelope, allowing us to more ideally place the branch on the property, while encouraging more foot traffic to the library,” said Dr. Gabriel Morley, Director of the Fulton County Library System. “While we know the closing of this library will bring some inconvenience, the result will be well worth it.  We look forward to completing the new construction as quickly as possible and debuting a beautiful new library that can serve the community more efficiently.”

Construction is expected to take approximately 9-12 months to complete. During the closure library service will be available at the following nearby locations:

  • East Point Library, 2757 Main Street, East Point, GA 30344
  • Southeast (Louise Watley) Library, 1463 Pryor Road, Atlanta, GA 30315
  • Metropolitan Library, 1332 Metropolitan Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30310
