The Auburn Avenue Research Library provides several avenues for volunteer opportunities: 


Archives Division


- Assist with shelving and shifting of materials
- Assist with processing of archival materials (i.e. staple removal, photocopying, filing, some preservation and retrieval, etc.)
- Assist with new acquisitions by applying the aforementioned activities
- Assist with storage of processed materials


Program Division


- Assist with program activities
- Assist with program development
- Distribute programs at Library sponsored events
- Fold and staple event programs
- Meet and greet guests


Reference Division


- Inventory the book collection in the Reference Division and identify those titles that are not a part of the coumputer catalogue listing.

-Read and review various newspapers and periodicals.

- Identify articles, by and/or about African Americans, and/or the African Diaspora, stamp with AARL stamp, record the name of the source, date and page on each article.


Welcome Desk Division


- Acknowledge and welcome patrons entering and exiting the facility.
- Monitor the Visitors' Sign-in/Sign-out Notebook/Sheets
- Respond to inquiries about library's resources, services and programs
- Maintain brochures, exhibit flyers and other promotional materials
- Provide assistance for large events and programs held at the library
- Assist with special projects
